On the night of the American Idol finale, I had to work. So, I set it to record on the computer, and went on my way, hoping no one would spoil it for me so I could watch it when I got home and be surprised. However, while at work, we were pretty slow until about 9.15 PM (American Idol ended at 9, so my theory is that everyone was home watching it and then went out for ice cream). Then a bunch of people started coming in. After making a few ice creams, someone said something about American Idol. I told them I was recording it back home, so I asked them to not tell me anything, but nonetheless, one of the guys thought that was funny, so he came right out and said, "Oh yeah, David Archuleta won," and then made some crack about how he won't last too long because he'll go through puberty soon. I was kinda sad to have the outcome spoiled, but I was still excited to go home and watch it because I love watching all the guest singers sing with the top 10 Idols. However, I was in no rush to watch it, so after work, I just went home and then went to bed.
It wasn't until the NEXT DAY that I finally had some time to sit down and watch it. I really liked a lot of the performances, especially David Archuleta's with One Republic (you can watch it here) and Carrie Underwood's song (what was with her outfit though? haha).
Finally, I got to the end of the episode, and I was about to just turn it off, since I already knew the outcome (or so I thought), but I decided to watch anyway. To my utter astonishment, when the winner was announced, it was DAVID COOK!! I was shocked!! I totally believed that Archuleta had won for nearly 24 hours!! My compliments to the random customer at SubZero who thought it'd be funny to play a little joke on the girl making his ice cream :)

~Just a little update~
Well, I met with one of the accounting professors, and now he has me all pumped up about going for accounting! (Yes, I am completely aware of how nerdy that sounds......) I still have a lot of classes to take before I can apply (next year), but I feel much more prepared for it. I feel a lot better about the classes, the application, and the program itself. I still don't know for sure if it'll stick (we'll see after I take the other pre-requisite classes), but I really hope I do well so I can get in.
In other news.....Carie had her baby! From what I can see, she's adorable. I can't wait to go home next month and see her! You can read all her info on the link....
Other than that, things have been pretty laid back around here. The weather has gotten SO much better, so I'm grateful for that. I love being able to sit outside on the grass and just read out there. Since my class load is light, I can find time to read books for pleasure as opposed to fall and winter semesters when I can only read textbooks because that's all there's time for.
I'm almost done with the last of the Twilight series (Eclipse). The weird thing about those books is that the writing isn't actually that good, but the story is great and hooks you, so people really like them, including myself. Once I'm done, I don't really know what I'll move on to, so if anyone has any suggestions of good books you've read lately, let me know!
...........life is lovely.......... :)

Google Reader
Google never ceases to surprise me with the fun stuff they come up with. Yesterday, I was playing around with my Gmail and looking at all the other Google stuff, and I found GOOGLE READER. It's a website you can setup and add "subscriptions" to blogs/forums you read online, and it will tell you when any of them are updated! It's a one-stop shop for blog readers such as myself. This way you don't have to check every blog you read to see if any posts have been added. All you need to do is add the web address of the blogs you read to your "subscriptions" list and on your home page, it will tell you if any have been updated, and will actually show the post for you to read right there (but I actually prefer going to the actual blog to read the posts, they look prettier in the actual blog).Yet another Google product I'm gonna have lots of fun with :)

Advice, anyone?
As many of you know, I recently declared a psychology major. I mapped out my graduation plan and can graduate as of next August (2009). However, recently I've been re-thinking that decision. As much as I enjoy the subject and the study of it, it's a rather simple degree that isn't competitive and probably isn't the best for preparing for a career after graduation.
But if I changed my major, what would it be now? I want something that's competitive, will challenge me, and give me a better possibility of finding a job when graduation time comes. As I thought about it, I thought about the previous classes I've taken, which I've enjoyed, and which would lead to degrees of real value. With suggestions from others and lots of thought, I decided perhaps I should try a few more accounting classes and see how that works for me. I've only taken Accounting 200, and I have about 15 credit hours of more courses to take before I can apply to the program. However, I really enjoyed the course, and I know the program is highly ranked and competitive.
The only problem with switching majors now is how far along I already am, not necessarily in the Psychology major, just with school in general. I've finished all my general education classes, and taken about 4 classes for the Psychology major. Since the Psychology major is so short, I could finish quickly and be done with school in a little over a year. However, if I decide to go for the Accounting program, it'll take about another 3 years (1 year of taking all the pre-requisite classes, 2 years in the actual program). As strange as it may sound, I really wouldn't mind being in school an extra 2 years because I really enjoy school, especially BYU, and I love learning (nerd alert!!). My biggest concern is taking that extra spot in the university those extra 2 years when I'm sure someone else would love to have it.
So now I have to decide:
1) Stick with the easier major, be done quickly, and have a degree of less value
------OR------
2) Go for the harder option, be in school 2 extra years, and have a competitive degree
For now, I'm thinking about keeping my required Psych classes for Fall and simply dropping some of the elective classes and take some of the pre-requisite accounting classes instead. That way I can keep going with a Psych degree, but if I really enjoy the accounting classes and do well in them, then I can switch over to Accounting and still pursue a minor in Psych (with a double minor in Music, which is 2 credit hrs shy of being done). If I don't like the accounting classes, I can just go ahead with a Psych degree and graduate probably only a semester later (December 2009).
I just don't know though........
~~~~ Any thoughts anyone??
A new residence, a new term, a new TV...
Well, spring term has begun, and the first week of classes is over! I'm really excited about this term - I've never taken spring/summer classes before, and I really like how small the classes are and how much more room there seems to be on campus (there are so many fewer students!). It's also starting to warm up a bit (except for the occasional random chilly day). We do have to go at a quicker pace since we have only 8 weeks to get through all the material, but I really don't see that as a problem since my classes don't seem too difficult.
And now I've moved into Wyview in a private room! I love having so much space, and my room is really cute thanks to my mom and dad helping me get everything set up and getting me a beautiful new shelf/cubicle unit for storing books, pictures, and other stuff. Not only that, but I also have a TV! It seems a little strange that I went this whole time in college without getting one, but my other roommates had always already had one, so what was the point in me getting one? But now since there are only 3 of us in the apartment and no one else had one, it was time for me to get my own, and I love it!!
I miss my old roommates, but I still see them from time to time (except Haley! She'd be kinda hard to reach since she's on the other side of the Atlantic.....). Cassie and I even get to work together on Tuesday and Saturday nights for this month! So come see us if you get a chance - we pretty much are the best at making delicious ice cream just the way you want it!
Basically, life is good, and I'm happy!
